Fountainwood Observatory

Overview

Our large reflecting telescope allows SU community members to explore the brilliant constellations, star clusters, and nebulae punctuating the night sky. Used by faculty and students for research, the telescope was donated to the Physics Department by Max Allen, a local engineer and builder who was also an amateur astronomer. The observatory also hosts general-interest programs for the local community during the academic year.
